Elly Platt is a costume maker and vintage fashion enthusiast with a strong interest in ethical and sustainable fashion. After discovering that her local river, the Wandle, was being routinely polluted by untreated sewage discharges from Thames Water, she felt compelled to respond. Disturbed by the environmental damage to a place she valued deeply, Platt began creating work inspired by her observations of the river—using her textile practice to raise awareness and spark dialogue around water pollution and environmental responsibility.
